Call for tutors: AI4AL looks for adult educators to test its AI tools for adult learning!

The AI4AL project, which aims to promote the adoption of AI technologies in the Adult Learning and Education (ALE) sector, welcomes adult educators to actively participate in our project’s processes as tutors to test and pilot our AI-based tool and training toolkit, and to provide us with insights concerning their experiences with AI. Why do we need Adult Learning and Education tutors?

AI-based solutions have the potential to revolutionize the provision of adult learning by facilitating improved skills assessment and personalized learning opportunities. However, despite this immense potential, AI remains largely untapped within the ALE sector. Many adult educators also express mistrust towards AI, which hampers its widespread adoption. To address this gap, the AI4AL project aims to equip adult educators with the necessary skills to confidently apply AI in ALE.

By participating in the AI4AL project, tutors will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and use of AI-based solutions in adult learning. Their involvement will play a vital role in demystifying the perceived threats posed by AI and highlighting the key role of teachers and educators in the adoption of assistive technologies.

What are the benefits for tutors?

By participating in the AI4AL project activities, adult educators will be able to:

  • Gain knowledge about the use of AI in adult learning
  • Contribute to the development and use of AI-base solutions in adult learning
  • Highlight the key role of teachers and educators in the adoption of assistive technologies.
  • Demystify the perceived challenges and threats related to AI

What are the main project outputs that you will get involved in?

1. Engagement Kit Development: The project will develop an Engagement Kit, comprising a Methodological Guide and an Online Scenarios Repository. This kit will provide educators with a framework for direct involvement in adopting AI-based technologies in both formal and non-formal ALE settings.

2. AI4AL Matching Tool: The project aims to develop “AI4AL,” a cutting-edge matching tool that utilizes AI technologies to link the assessment of the need for basic digital skills to the provision of courses and micro-credentials. This tool will enable adult educators to create highly personalized training offers tailored to the specific requirements of learners.

3. Training Opportunities: The AI4AL project will provide comprehensive training to educators on the use of the AI4AL tool and the application of AI technologies within the ALE sector. This self-paced learning path will enhance educators’ skills and ensure they remain up-to-date with the latest resources and training opportunities offered by AI.

By participating in the project, tutors will not only contribute to the advancement of adult learning but also enjoy numerous benefits. AI-based solutions place educators and learners at the center of the ALE process, enabling better skill assessment and tailored resource provision. Automation of repetitive tasks and result standardization through AI will help educators save valuable time. Furthermore, the project’s activities will support tutors in keeping their teaching skills up-to-date by introducing them to new resources and training opportunities offered by AI.

Join our project! It’s essential for us. Why?

Your participation is crucial for the wide and effective use of AI in adult education. By testing and upscaling the use of AI in skills assessment, we aim to contribute to the digital transformation of the ALE sector. Your insights and experiences as tutors will be invaluable in shaping the future of adult learning and education.

Our project already created a core group of 10 beta tutors from our partners’ networks, who were trained by the project on the basics of AI and who are already involved in the initial steps of the project. They will be supporting new group of 100  tutors  throughout the testing and piloting process.

How much time do you need to invest?

1) Private Beta Test: All 100 enrolled tutors, with the help of the 10 beta tutors, will pilot the matching tool.

Time engagement from your part: Total of 4 hours (1 hour with your facilitator to get to know the tool, 1 hour to additionally try the tool, 2 hours to introduce the tool to your learners and help them in the process of using it)

2) Scenario Repository Population: Based on the experience of the tutors during the Private Beta Test, each tutor will submit a short scenario/ article to the repository, describing their experience and providing insights, tips and ideas to other tutors.

Time engagement from your part: Total of 1 hour to share with us your experience, challenges and ideas on using our tool and other AI in your practice

3) Course Piloting: All 100 enrolled tutors pilot the online self-paced course with the help of the beta tutors.

Time engagement from your part: Total of 5 hours navigate the course and finalise at least 1 full module. If you wish to follow the full course just know that it should take around 30 hours for all 6 modules.
